We haven’t seen Tiger Woods compete since the epic US Open at Torrey Pines in June since he has been recovering from reconstructive knee surgery. After eight months of rehab, Tiger is set to return to the Tour next weekend at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. Everyone wants to see him play again and all casual golf fans will be drawn back to the sport. (Read More)

It didn’t seem likely going into the weekend but Padraig Harrington stormed back to claim his second consecutive major championship, winning the PGA by a stroke over Ben Curtis and Sergio Garcia. He won at -3, after posting back-to-back scores of -4, 66 the last two days.

Since Tiger Woods has been out with his knee injury, Harrington has put himself in a position to be considered the best golfer in the game. He very quietly has won three of the last six major championships. (Read More)

Harrington Goes Back-To-Back

Tiger Woods missed this year’s Open Championship and surprisingly it went on without him. It was anyone’s tournament this year but Padraig Harrington was the best again, winning his second consecutive title across the pond. To say the very least, it was a difficult tournament and he won with a score of +3, 283.

The playing conditions were extremely tough and the scores clearly demonstrated that. After Harrington, the next closest golfer was Ian Poulter at +7 and only six golfers finished at +10 or better. The gusty winds and deep rough were challenging to even the best golfers in the world. Even Tiger would have been pressed to break par. (Read More)

Tiger to have season ending surgery

To all the naysayer’s and name callers I say this - shut it. Tiger Woods proved today that all of the criticism over his heroic performance to win the US Open was unfounded. It drove me nuts to hear the radio “experts” rip Tiger, essentially calling him a wimp, for his knee problems during the Open. Everyone said that Tiger should have been fully healed from his arthroscopic knee surgery eight weeks ago, they all wanted to make light of the situation and poke fun at Tiger for being a wimp. Anyone who watched the tournament could tell that Tiger was visibly ailing and that there had to be more to the knee injury than anyone was addressing. Clearly it had to be more than a simple problem fixed by a scope, right? (Read More)

Tiger Pulls Out U.S. Open Win

In what will be considered one of the best U.S. Open Tournaments in history, it took 91 holes for Tiger Woods to claim his 14th major victory. After 72 holes, Tiger and Rocco Mediate played 18 more, and still a winner could not be declared. Finally, on the 91st and first sudden death hole, Tiger parred and Rocco bogeyed, giving Woods the championship.

Mediate would have been the oldest first time major winner in history and simply ran into some trouble on the 19th playoff hole. He pulled his tee shot into the left bunker on the seventh hole and his second shot hit the greenside grandstand. He took a drop and his approach shot hit the green and gave him an opportunity to make par but his putt just went right of the hole. Tiger hit the fairway, then the green with his first two shots and then two-putted. After Rocco missed his putt, the championship was Tiger’s. (Read More)
