Here we are one year later and nothing changed. We have a rematch of last season’s final, between the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s the first time since 1983-84 that there is a rematch and we all should expect to see a great series. Finals Rematch

In what turned out to be quicker series than expected, we will have a rematch of last season’s Stanley Cup Finals. Beginning Saturday, the Detroit Red Wings will defend their championship against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Check back with Final Timeout Saturday for an in-depth analysis on the series and you will find out everything you need to know. That series last year went six games, look forward to a better one with Pittsburgh much improved.

Conference Finals Preview

We’re down to the final four teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and we have the four best teams in the NHL playing for the right to play in the Finals. I’ll breakdown the match-up between the Blackhawks and Red Wings in the West and the Hurricanes and Penguins in the East. We’ve seen some great hockey so far and expect nothing less as we continue into the Conference Finals. Many experts are calling for a Finals rematch, whether it be from 2002 or 2008. Not so fast. This is supposed to be San Jose’s season. They had their best season in franchise history and if they don’t make it to the Stanley Cup, they never will. The Sharks have had too many postseason letdowns. With that being said, they have a lot of tough competition to get through on the way getting their. Eastern Conference Playoff Preview

It’s that time of year again in the NHL and I’ll offer an analysis of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference as well as some predictions in the first round series. The heavy favorite will be the Boston Bruins, led by goaltender Tim Thomas. Thomas led the league in goals against average and save percentage this season. (Read More)

Winter Classic Great Success Once Again

The NHL brought the Winter Classic to the Frozen Confines of Wrigley Field for the third edition of the outdoor hockey, played between the Red Wings and Blackhawks. The Hawks got out to a 3-1 lead before the Wings scored five straight goals and eventually won 6-4.

Nearly 41,000 fans showed up to witness the first hockey game played at Wrigley and it was another outstanding job done by the NHL, planning this event. The atmosphere was electric and the league will likely make this an annual game but with different venues and teams involved. (Read More)
