NFL Seriously Considering Longer Season

The NFL’s collective bargaining agreement expires after the 2010 season and one of the topics is whether or not the season should be longer.

While a vote on the issue is not expected before this season, he will be debated and discussed for quite some time. Reasons for the change include more revenue for the league and television networks and since the NFL is the most popular sport in the country, that will remain one of the top selling points. Harrison Apparently Too Good For White House Visit

Defensive player of the year and Super Bowl champion James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers has spoken out about President Obama’s invitation to visit the White House and why he does not feel the need to go. What a guy.

Listen up James, when your team wins the Super Bowl, one of the perks is to visit the White House and meet the President. Sure some players don’t go because of prior obligations but your reasons are utterly ridiculous. (Read More)

It’s been a busy week for the Detroit Lions. First they unveil their new logo and now they have a new franchise quarterback.

Former Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford has agreed to a six-year, $72 million contract with $41.7 million in guarantees. This deal is another record for a draft pick and so much for limiting how much rookies can make. (Read More)

New Lions Logo Intimidates Nobody

Look at this logo. Scared? Well the Detroit Lions have spent time coming up with a new logo to make people forget that they were 0-16 a season ago. Chances are that nobody will forget that. Hopefully they spend more time debating who they should take with the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft this weekend. My advice would be to do that and spend less time on logos. Unless of course they can follow the Rays footsteps and make the Super Bowl in their first season with the new logo. Highly unlikely though.

Bears Trade For Franchise QB Cutler

ESPN ran a midday poll online that asked which one of five teams would Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler be best suited to play for. The Chicago Bears were not one of those five teams but in the end they ended up trading for the young future superstar quarterback.

The Bears traded starting quarterback Kyle Orton, a first and third-round draft pick, and one future first-round picks in exchange for Cutler and a fifth-round pick. Sound like a lot for Cutler? Not for the Bears, who now have the the best quarterback they’ve had by far since Jim McMahon, with the exception of course of Rex Grossman, who led them to their second Super Bowl in 2006. Fire Officer Robert Powell Immediately

A Dallas police officer thought that he was doing his job when he stopped Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats for running a red light while he was speeding to the hospital to see his mother-in-law, who was about to pass from breast cancer. After 20 minutes and one ticket later, Moats was unable to say good-bye. Thankfully his wife was able to.

Officer Powell’s inability to exercise good judgment and common sense should leave the Dallas Police Force no choice but to immediately relieve him of all his duties. There is no time where a simple ticket will be more important than a human life, something that Powell fails to understand. (Read More)

Cassel Will Continue To Take Advantage Of Opportunity

Quarterback Matt Cassel’s has been well documented. He had not started a football game since his senior year in high school. After four years as a backup at USC, the Patriots drafted him to back up Tom Brady. After three seasons and a knee injury to Brady, Cassel had his chance to start.

After a great season, Cassel was hit with the franchise tag and was just traded to the Chiefs. What a difference one season makes. With Brady coming back next season, Cassel will continue to be a starter and look to turn around a team that finished 2-14 last season. (Read More)
