You have to appreciate the confidence people have, you can never win unless you believe you can, like Rick Dutrow believed Big Brown had the ability to win the Triple Crown. But when he said it was a foregone conclusion that he was going to win, I should have known Big Brown didn’t stand a chance.

There’s a reason the Triple Crown hasn’t been won in 30 years, it’s not easy to accomplish. To win the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes within five weeks, you need a special horse and only 11 have been able to accomplish this incredible feat. Big Brown Looks To Make History

There hasn’t been a Triple Crown winner in horse racing in 30 years but today Big Brown will attempt to become the first horse to accomplish this feat since Affirmed in 1978.

This might be a bigger story but he has no competition today. The Belmont Stakes is a long mile and a half race and his biggest competitor, Casino Drive, dropped out after a workout yesterday. He was second to Big Brown with 5-2 odds but his hoof injury will keep him out. (Read More)
