Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin hasn’t even coached a collegiate game yet and he’s already getting on Florida’s bad side.

He called out Florida coach Urban Meyer because of a phone call he made to a Tennessee recruit when he was making an official visit to Tennessee. Kiffin thought he cheated but apparently that wasn’t a rules violation and Florida got the apology they demanded. (Read More)

Sanchez Enters Draft A Year Too Early

USC quarterback Mark Sanchez declared for the 2009 NFL Draft today, going against advice given by coach Pete Carroll suggesting that he should return for a fifth season.

Sanchez has only started 16 collegiate games in his career and although he has played very well and posted a 14-2 record, his lack of experience will hurt him in the pros. With all of these questions marks around his decision, it will be interesting to see just how he does at the next level. (Read More)

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame needed a win in the biggest way possible in the Hawaii Bowl against Hawaii to prove that retaining Charlie Weis was the right move. They did just that, beating the Fighting Rainbow Warriors 49-21.

Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray suffered another season ending injury and will have to miss the BCS title game against Florida on January 8th. He’ll have surgery to repair a partially torn left hamstring tendon on Monday.

What does this mean for the Sooners? Trouble. Murray is their top offensive threat and he led the team in all-purpose yards. He was second on the team in rushing, only eight yards behind Chris Brown but he will be missed on kickoffs especially, where he racked up 774 yards. His 27.6 yards per return ranked 10th in the country. (Read More)

Gene ChizikIn the SEC conference and in the south, college football is god. I don’t live down there so I will never know the true atmosphere of what tailgating at a Florida game or an Alabama game is really like. Up here in Chicago we pretty much worship the Bears and either the Cubs or Sox. You don’t really see people going nuts for Illinois or Northwestern football. So if I lived in the south and rooted for Auburn football, I’d be pretty pissed off to see who my school hired. (Read More)

Leach Rightfully Upset Harrell Not Invited To Heisman Ceremony

In a questionable move, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell was not invited to the presentation of the Heisman trophy this Saturday and head coach Mike Leach is not happy.

Harrell does deserve to at least be there even though it’s unlikely he’ll win it over favorites Sam Bradford and reigning winner Tim Tebow. I guess his stellar season was not good enough in the voters’ eyes. (Read More)
