Fresno State Wins Their First College World Series

Next to nobody outside Fresno, California thought the Bulldogs had a chance to do any damage in the College World Series, much less make it, but they defeated Georgia in game three by a score of 6-1 to claim their first men’s NCAA championship.

Rightfielder Steve Detwiler homered twice and drove in all six runs and Justin Wilson shut down the Bulldogs for eight innings, allowing just the one run. FSU shortstop Danny Muno committed three errors but Georgia couldn’t capitalize and didn’t get on the board until first-round White Sox draft pick Gordon Beckham homered in the eighth. (Read More)
