One of the most phenomenal things about baseball is the Cubs organization’s ability to breed futility. In what was one of the best sports books I’ve ever read, Moneyball would be an equally great movie. Instead a rewritten script has delayed the shooting of the film, which would star Brad Pitt. Here’s something you never want to see your favorite team do. Pirates GM Neal Huntington wrote a letter to fans explaining the reasoning behind the trade involving star outfielder Nate McLouth to the Braves for prospects. Obviously there was disappointment for Pirates fans but trading stars for potential talent will one day bring a championship to Pittsburgh even though they haven’t made the playoffs since 1992 right? Here’s the letter. [MLB]

The 2009 edition of the NBA Finals features a 14-time NBA champion versus a team that has never won a Finals game. Sounds lopsided right? Not so fast, these are two of the best offenses in the game and we’ll look to see a lot of scoring with very little defense played. The Lakers are the clear-cut favorite but the Magic will definitely look to prove otherwise. Let’s take a look at some keys to the series. (Read More)
