The Houston Rockets already have one of the best dynamic duos in the league with Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Now they can add Ron Artest to the mix.

Houston gave up Bobby Jackson, a first-round pick in the 2009 draft, and the draft rights to Donte Greene in a trade yesterday. Artest has been complaining about his situation in Sacramento and now he’ll be on one of the best teams in the NBA. (Read More)

This Isn’t Necessary

Little League Baseball will institute an instant replay system for this year’s World Series in Williamsport, PA. They beat MLB to the punch but it isn’t expected to be used often. Replays will only be used to review home runs and other plays near the outfield wall.

There is no room for instant replay in the MLB, much less in Little League. These kids are 11 and 12 years old and I know the system is something for umpires to fall back on but there have not been many plays that have drastically changed the game that would warrant replay. Playing in the Little League World Series is a great experience for the kids but they’ll forget about what happens the next day and replay won’t even be used that often. (Read More)

Manny Willing To Waive No-Trade Clause

With the trading deadline on Thursday, Manny Ramirez said on ESPN Radio 890 in Boston that he’ll be open to any trade that the Red Sox could work out. Boston will have to decide whether or not to pick up the club option worth $20 million for next season or trade him.

Ramirez signed with Boston in 2000, an eight-year deal worth $168 million with the additional two club options attached at the end of the deal. If the Red Sox were smart, they would just sign him to an extension and that would ensure he will end his career in Boston. (Read More)

USA Coasts To Victory Against Canada

No LeBron James, no problem for Team USA. No Steve Nash, plenty of problems for Team Canada.

The United States simply came out and dominated, defeating Canada 120-65 and showed everyone exactly why they should win Olympic Gold this year in Beijing. They had six players in double figures and three scored at least 20. There isn’t a weakness on the team and if they can continue to play like this, nobody will beat them. (Read More)

Hester Returns

After failing to agree on a new contract extension over the off-season, Bears star returner Devin Hester held out the first two days of training camp before reporting Thursday. He’s supposed to make $445,000 this season but after what he’s done the past two years, the Bears should step up and rework the deal.

He’ll have an increased role in the offense and the Bears hope he can bring in more than the 20 receptions he had last season. In addition, if teams kick to him, he’ll add continue to add another dimension to a Bears team that struggles to score points. He already has 11 returns in his two-year career and with a solid season, he’ll break the all-time return record of 13, held by Brian Mitchell. (Read More)

CC Sabathia is the reason the Brewers are NOT going to win the NL Central. That’s right, you head it here first. Now before you all start screaming at me and telling me I’m crazy, answer me this one question. What is Sabathia’s career high in complete games? Now that you’ve googled it, I’m sure you’ve seen that it is six. Next bit of trivia, how many has he thrown so far this year? Again the answer is six. Not so bad you might say, but just hear me out. The Cubs and Wrigley Field may be under new management sooner than expected. According to sources, the Tribune Co. has narrowed down the list of bidders to three. Among them, is Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

The Tribune Co., who owns the Cubs, said the bids were around the $1 billion mark. The second round of bidding will see three more proposals. From there, it is uncertain whether or not a winner will amass. Besides Cuban, the Ricketts family, who founded TD Ameritrade, and a group of businessmen that include former home run king Henry Aaron, are the other two in the group. (Read More)
