Arizona Clinches NL West

Micah Owings Arizona DiamondbacksMathematically no, but with the way the Arizona Diamondbacks are playing, the laws of arithmetic don’t have much meaning. They’re the first team to 20 wins with just 8 losses. They haven’t lost a series since the season opener in Cincinnati. The Snakes just keep on rolling and finding new ways to win. It also helps that the rest of the NL West is just awful. The Dodgers are in 2nd place, 5.5 games back at 14-13. (Read More)

Can’t Win in the Playoffs? Get Lost

Even in the extremely competitive Western Conference, if coaches can’t get their teams to win in the playoffs, they won’t be sticking around. Dallas fired Avery Johnson and Phoenix coach Mike D’Antoni may not return next season. Both teams were eliminated last night and rumors are swirling that D’Antoni will not return as coach.

Coaching is all about what have you done for me lately. Three seasons ago, Avery Johnson had the Mavericks in command with a 2-0 series lead against Miami in the NBA Finals. Since that point, they have gone 3-12 in the playoffs. (Read More)

Tough luck for playoff lovers

Tough luck for all those who want nothing more than a playoff system to determine the champion of college football. The Bowl Championship Series officials decided that a four team playoff starting in 2010 was not such a great idea. Not only did the controversial system reject a playoff format, it also suspended any talk of a plus-one system as well.

I love watching Sportscenter on ESPN. It’s probably one of my favorite shows. In fact, I love pretty much everything about ESPN. I love their coverage of every sport from NFL to the NHL to lonely NASCAR. But the one thing that I think I love the most about ESPN and the sporting world, are all the hot ladies that they have doing sideline reporting. I think it’s safe to say that sometimes we watch some sporting events just to see who is doing the sideline reporting. Here are my top 5 favorite ladies from the sporting world. (Read More)

More Players Should Follow Delgado’s Act

During Sunday’s game against the Braves, Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado appeared to be breaking out of his slump. He belted two homers and propelled New York to a 6-3 victory. After the second homer, the often jeered slugger received a standing ovation and the fans wanted a curtain call. Delgado didn’t give it to them.

Good for Carlos Delgado. He didn’t sit on the bench after the second homer to spite the fans for constantly booing him this season. He realized it is April and it just wasn’t the right time for it. Who knows what will happen now too, either he’ll continue to stay hot or go back to his slump and listen to more boos from the fans. (Read More)

Cut Your Losses Clemens…If There’s Anything Even Left

Roger Clemens CourtThings just keep getting worse for Roger Clemens, and I don’t feel sorry for him for a second. He could have ended this mess several months ago if he had just taken a lesson from Andy Pettitte and Brian Roberts with an admission and apology strategy to the steroids allegations against him. But alas, stubborn Roger felt the need to battle, only bringing more and more negative attention to himself.

Earlier this morning, The Associated Press reported an article pretty much confirming the most recent allegations against Clemens. (Read More)

Brown and Jordan Both Back in Carolina

Larry Brown just can’t get away from basketball and Michael Jordan hired him to coach the Charlotte Bobcats, his ninth coaching job.

Both are known for their North Carolina roots and together hope to bring success to the franchise, which has struggled since coming into the league.

Brown has been known to have problems with executives in the past and no indication has been given that it won’t happen again. He had problems with Bobcats star Emeka Okafor when Brown coached the Olympic team and if he sees less playing time next season, you can expect to see problems very quickly. (Read More)
